Artist Statement

This show is a portrait of the streets around us,
all painted November 2006.

I can see 28 cranes from my windows,
and they’re working all night in False Creek
getting rid of toxic earth.
Outside my front door the asphalt is being laid for more cars, and I heard that developers
can build condos for $350 per square foot,
and sell them for $700.

I want to see stronger local benefits
from land speculation and development.

I have dreams of dignified and respectful housing for all,
and streets that are safe for non-motorized transportation.
